Survivors Are Beautiful

Surviviors are the most beautiful, courageous, people of strength - male and female - children and adults - that I have ever met. They have all of the things mentioned by Elizabeth Kubler Ross. They often emerge out of their woundedness to heal and live full lives. Out of their desire to heal, they make the world a better place for everyone.

If you are a survivor reading this, give yourself credit for the strength that you have and for the struggles that you have overcome. Believe me when I say that you are beautiful.

Patricia, thank you for sharing this quote and your take on it. This is something that survivors of all types of abuse need to ehar because recovering self-esteem is such a key to healing.

Jane, I wrote the quote down sometime ago in one of my notebooks. I ran across it a few days ago and really thought about what it said. It is very appropriate to survivors and the sad thing is that most of us don't often see ourselves as beautiful but we are. Inside beauty - beauty of character is much more important to me. Glad you liked it.

Alene, thank you for your sharing of your comment. Knowing that we have great worth is something that I feel is the foundation of all healing and, as you said, that is true for survivors of all kinds of abuse.

Hi Patricia,

That was really beautiful and powerful. Maybe it is only me, but I think that most of the times we forget to give some positive feedback to ourselves, to tap ourselves on the back and say hey you are awesome. I started, one year ago, to tell to myself how good I am, and how beautiful I am at least once a day. This small thing change the way I see myself and way others see me. It helped me to heal myself and to become a better person, first and foremost in my own eyes.

Daniel, thank you and I agree with your assessment. We do forget to give ourselves credit for what we have accomplished.

Some of the smallest changes that I have made in my behavior and in the way that I see mayself have had huge and positive consequences on how I give value to myself and my life.
