Trip to India

To my subscribers, I am on the airplane flying to India, as you read this. My friend and I are scheduled to fly out of the Little Rock, Arkansas airport a little after noon on Monday, September 24, 2007. We will fly to Atlanta, Georgia. After a layover in Atlanta, we will fly to Paris, France. We will get into Paris, France in time for breakfast on September 25. I have never been to France before. If we get in on time, we hope to see some of Paris but it will depend upon where the airport is located and how much time we have before we fly on to Bangalore, India. We will spend a few days in Bangalore before traveling by taxi to Puttaparthi, India. If you don't know, Bangalore is in southern India. Puttaparthi is about 70 something miles north of Bangalore.

To anyone visiting the blog for the first time. Welcome. Stay and look around. If you like what you see, feel free to subscribe.

I will be offline from Monday, September 24 until I get back home on Monday, October 15. I don't get home until late on October 15. It will take me a few days to get settled back in so I am not sure when my next article will be posted. I will be journaling about my trip and intend to do future articles about my experiences in India and at the main ashram of Satya Sai Baba, a Holy Man in India. Have a glorious time while I am gone. I sure intend to.

I hope you have a great time. I was there last year and I had a blast. It is truly an incredible country.

Jerad, thanks, I know we will have a glorious time. The day has already started for me on this Monday morning. I woke up at 4:30 a.m. I actually slept a few hours which is unusual for me. I normally am awake all night long because my mind won't shut down from thinking about the trip or something that I forgot to do. I got up at 5:00 a.m. and turned off the alarm before it could go off at 5:30. It is 5:45 and I am already mostly dressed and sitting here in front of the computer. I usually have my morning coffee sitting in front of the computer screen.

I will not yell at my husband because he is slow-poking along instead of being out the door on "my" time schedule. Hey, I am on India time already. That means laid back, no need to rush, everything will happen as it is supposed to.

I have already had a conversation with Baba this morning before I even got out of bed telling him to handle everything so that it runs smoothly with no major challenges, no last minute glitches. I know that this trip is supposed to happen because months ago when my friend asked me to go to India with her, I told her and the Universe if the trip was meant to happen then everything would flow smoothly and the money would come in to pay for everything. No charging to credit cards, just cash. I don't believe that credit cards are meant to be part of the Law of Attraction. To me, credit means debt. Cash is a better flow of income. Law of Attraction means living within my means. Hey, maybe I have the idea for my next LOA article.

I should go finish my coffee and finish getting ready before my husband wakes up. Have a glorious 3 weeks while I am gone. I know that I will.

I'm sure you can really begin to feel the effects of Indian time by now. I like to call it -ish time. Because after any time someone says you always add -ish to it.

OH yeah, I'll meet you at 7PM(-ish) on the dot. That usually means you can arrive an hour late and you'll still be waiting around until they meet with you.

But oh how nice is it to be liberated. I always take off my watch and put it away the entire trip on any island, in Greece and in India.

I hope you are having a wonderful trip. India, I'd love to go. I want to see the tiger reserve there some day.

The last six weeks have been quite the odyssey for me. I crashed my bike and broke a rib. I'm just now getting caught up in the blogosphere. I finally put up a link to you...sorry it took so long. Life just kept happening. ;)

I read there was a mini stampede at Puttaparthi by Sai Baba devotees. Hope you weren't caught in that!

Jerad, for some reason, my friend always makes me the time keeper for our India trips. I do the alarm clock. I wear the watch to know what time it is. You are right about the time difference. I call it being on "India time" or being on "Swami time". It is always difficult to come back to the fast pace of being an American. I am home, by the way. Got home around 8:30 p.m. on Monday. In bed by 9:30 p.m., slept until noon today (Tuesday, Oct. 16). Still feeling jet lag. Will do a few emails and probably sleep some more. Words still not making much sense in my mind so I will stop while I think what I just wrote makes sense. It is good to be home. It was an aweful, wonderful trip. Will write about that more after a few days of sleep.

Albert, yes, I got home according to schedule around 8:30 p.m. Monday. Still feeling jet lagged. Have a lot of things to share when my mind is back to normal. Spent over 20 hours in the airplanes yesterday plus 3 hours in the Bangalore Airport, 2 1/2 hours in the Paris Airport and about 2 hours in Atlanta Airport. So I am very tired. This is on top of the worst sinus infection and cough that I have ever had for the past 2 weeks. Lots and lots of material to write from when I am back on my feet. Lots of spiritual growth happened with this trip. I will probably continue to process that for awhile yet. Had a wonderful time in spite of being sick. Will write more after a few days of more sleep.

Marj, thanks for the honor of tagging me as a "Rockin' Girl Blogger". I am glad that you are back and doing well. I have been periodically checking your blog to see if you were back. Set backs happen to tell us that we need to take better care of our own needs. Sometimes, women especially, put ourselves and our needs after our spouse, our children, our parents and sometimes even our friends. We can't do that. When we become an empty vessel everyone suffers, but us most of all. Good to have you back.

Marj, I am glad that you are recovering. Life does test us sometimes. We are strong and courageous women. Don't forget to lean on others when you feel your own strength giving out. I did have a wonderful trip which I will write about when jet lag leaves. I love Tigers. They are my favorite animal. I think they are the most beautiful creature that God ever created.

Paritosh, no, Swami and I have an agreement. I don't do big crowds. During festivals, the ashram population can swell from 30,000 to 80,000 people. Those are the estimates that I have been told. I don't usually have a problem with claustriphobia, but with that many people, I do. When the crowds are that big, I don't go to Darshan. Darshan, for those who don't know, is "being in the presence of God". We go for Darshan and Bhajans which is "singing songs to God" twice a day while in the ashram. Sai Baba says we are all God. The difference between him and us is that he remembers he is God, we have forgotten that we are God. We can all reach the same state of remembering that Sai Baba is in. This is the state of enlightenment that we all strive for. Paritosh, thank you for your concern.
