Please be patient. In the mean time, I have 3 years worth of older posts that you might enjoy going back into the archives and reading.Patricia Singletonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14114250171020836470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7679672539901170150.post-71348770126103843972010-08-24T10:34:14.285-05:002010-08-24T10:34:14.285-05:00You have such great posts! :)

We were going to a Caldwell Family Reunion and then to visit my mother-in-law yesterday. We got near Texarkana and a fan belt came off of my daughter's van. We spent 10 minutes short of 6 hours in a gas station/truck stop with 3 different people trying to put on a new fan belt for us. Thank you to the trucker, tire store manager and employee, sorry I don't know your names, who worked on it. By the time we got the van fixed, we decided to just drove back home.

We were blessed in where the van's engine started running hot. If we had already crossed into Louisiana, we would have been somewhere on the long stretches of road when there is nothing in between small towns. We were still on I-30 when we put water in the radiator and then limped along a mile at a time until we got to an exit with a truck stop. We were within a mile or so of Texarkana, Arkansas where my son and daughter-in-law, who were following behind us in their car, were able to drive into Texarkana to buy a new fan belt. I forgot to mention that from Prescott, AR to Mandeville, TX where the truck stop was located, we were driving at reduced speeds because of the downpour of a rain storm that we were in. It was raining so hard that half the cars were driving with their emergency blinkers on just to be seen by other cars.

The truck stop had food, drinks, bathrooms, a restaurant, tables to sit and eat at and a game room that kept the kids busy and interested even without money to put into the game machines. I had bought crayons and notebooks for coloring for the trip. So the kids ages 4-10 were entertained the whole time.

I would have liked to have made it to the reunion and to my mother-in-law's house that evening. I still have a good day visiting with everyone. You just have to make any situation into a good experience. Even though we were worried about how we were going to get home if we had to have the van towed, we were all okay and were all together. We decided if we couldn't get the van fixed that our son and daughter-in-law would make two trips back and forth transporting us all home in their car. The first half were on their way home when we called them to tell them that we were in the van which had finally been fixed and on our way home too.Patricia Singletonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14114250171020836470noreply@blogger.com
